Man Bahadur Tamang and his family were badly affected by the earthquakes of 2015. On that day, Man Bhadaur and his father were working outside the home and it was only his younger brothers, sister, and mother who were at home. They survived without much injury, however, their house was completely destroyed during the tremors. He had means to rebuild immediately, the family had no choice but to live in a tent for the three years that followed the earthquake.

Employment was difficult to find in Nuwakot, Man Bahadur found himself compelled to move to Saudi Arabia to seek a better future for him and his family. During this time his father and brother continued to work as contractors outside the village while his youngest brother and sister continued with their studieAfter 33 months of working in Saudi Arabia, Man Bahadur returned to his family. As soon as he was home he contacted the ward to see what support would be available to him and his family. He dreamt of the whole family living in a safe, new construction, but knew this was far from their current reality. The ward was pleased to confirm that he was a Government of India grant beneficiary and would receive full support from the STFC project.

Man Bahadur and his family now have an earthquake resilient home. Their dreams have come true. Grateful for the support of the STFC, Man Bahadur is now seeking similar help and guidance for relatives and community members.
